Introduction To Search Engine Optimization

Creating and publishing a website is no longer a mysterious, cryptic task that
is reserved only for computer geeks. Nowadays, virtually everyone and their
dog has their own website. Anyone wanting a piece of the virtual pie can
easily sign up for a free Blogger blog in about five minutes. In addition, there
are lots of WYSIWYG editors available that make creating a beautiful,
interactive website a very simple drag & drop process.

So that's the easy part. The difficulty lies in getting your website seen! With
the internet's estimated 20 billion webpages, how on earth can you attempt to
rise above obscurity and become well-known and famous in your niche?
The answer lies in search engine optimization. SEO can be defined as the
process of driving traffic to your website organically (unpaid) from the search
engines. In order to get the search engine bots to notice your site and include
it in the results pages, you'll need to work on these three components:

1. Making sure your content is relevant to the keyword phrases being
searched
2. Optimizing your website with keywords and linking structures
3. Building powerful inbound links to your website from others in your niche

If you want massive exposure for your website, you need it to rank on the first
page of Google for several different keyword phrases. 90% of internet users do
not browse beyond the first page of results, so don't settle for being on the second or third page and only getting a tiny sliver of the traffic that you could
be getting.

Unfortunately, no one makes it to the #1 spot on Google overnight (unless
there happens to be no competition whatsoever – which is highly unlikely for
any keyword phrase that gets a decent amount of searches). Unlike “instant”
methods like PPC (pay per click), search engine optimization takes a lot of
time and effort. Think of PPC as the hustle and bustle of the big city. SEO on
the other hand, is like a rural Southern town where progress moves slow and
steady like molasses.

Marketers who choose to focus on SEO rather than driving traffic through PPC
or other means acknowledge the fact that it takes time. If you are impatient
or give up easily, perhaps SEO may not be the right method for you to drive
traffic to your website. No worries!

But for those of you that want to learn about SEO, read on. The fundamentals
are really quite simple. The first step is learning. The second step is

Understanding How Affiliate Marketing Works

Understanding How Affiliate Marketing Works

If you are looking for an extra stream of income, the internet is a big place of opportunity. Go online and browse through tons of money making potentials.

One of the most popular ones is affiliate marketing. It is a business model where merchants pay people for bringing in customers or visitors through their online efforts.

You may be overwhelmed with the information that you will find over the internet on how affiliate marketing works. It is really a very simple process when you look at the big picture. Remember, the more you complicate things, the harder money will come your way.

Here are three simple steps how affiliate marketing can help you pocket some profits:

Choose a good product to push

This is the most basic rule that you must follow. Affiliate marketing will be your cash cow if you have good products to promote. You need to research and be very sensitive to the needs of the market.

Competition in affiliate marketing, like in any other business, is very stiff. Remember though that competition is a good gauge how popular a product is and how the market reacts to it. It will be a very good opportunity to be the first, but going for what already sells also pays well.

Traffic, Traffic, Traffic

Traffic will be the blood of your business. Without the consumers who will pay interest to the product you are pushing, there will be no profits to take.

Learn the different ways to bring in traffic. Some of the most popular ways are Pay Per Click, Blog commenting, Forum posting, and article marketing.

You will build your wealth once you master how to build your list and have a base of buying visitors or followers.

Get Paid for Your Efforts

Taking home the bacon is the concept of affiliate marketing. The business that you help through your effort will share the revenues that they get.

Businesses will appreciate visitors that will buy from them, and for this you will be paid a percentage of their earnings. These earnings can be sent to you directly through check or deposited directly to your bank account.

Affiliate marketing can definitely boost your income. It is not a get rich magic scheme though. As an affiliate, you will have to work your way to the top and enjoy a glass of champagne when you get there!

Weight Loss Pills and Natural Weight Loss

Weight Loss Pills and Natural Weight Loss

The bottom line is that weight loss pills have nothing to do with losing weight naturally. Many of these pills do cause weight loss but a lot of the rapid loss of pounds can be attributed to loss of water from the body.

Most weight loss products are diuretics and have the side effect of dehydration. It is also quite common for weight loss pills, like ephedrine and caffeine, to rev you up so much you forget to eat and drink. The same thing goes for food supplement known as hoodia. Although hoodia is an herbal remedy it is still a powerful diuretic that causes you to lose water instead of pounds.

The problem is that even remedies that are considered to be natural are not really that healthy for you. Lots of herbs have very dangerous side effects including dehydration, feelings of disassociation, diarrhea and constipation.

If you do decide to go the diuretic herbal weight loss route be sure to take water before, during and after all exercise and especially if you are planning strenuous exercising. Ten to fourteen ounces a day are the recommended fluid doses before you do any kind of athletic activity.  This is important to evade any post work-out fatigue as well.

When taking weight loss pills you need to drink a lot of water. You are well advised try to take in half of your body weight in water in ounces a day. So if you weigh 180 pounds you should drink at least 90 ounces of water daily. This is roughly the same as drinking eight to ten bottles a day. This helps the weight loss pills break down fat cells and flush toxins out of your body. It can also help mitigate the side effects of any pills that are not natural.

Even if you do not feel thirsty you should force yourself to drink because some of these supplements put you in a disassociated state that causes you to simply forget to do what is good for you.  You just won’t notice your dry mouth or you will feel so zippy you will feel like you are superhuman and like you don’t need food or water.

If you must drink a sports drink or diluted fruit juice to get enough water inside you than do it. Do whatever you can to encourage your body to take in enough water to discourage the dehydration caused by a lack of fluids.

Fad Diets to Avoid

Fad Diets to Avoid

Most weight loss diets are actually fad diets that are repackaged to us as the newest and latest way to lose weight. A good example of this kind of resell to the public is the Zone diet. The Zone Diet sounded novel when it first came out but it is actually based on food combining principles from Asia that have been around for thousands of years. Another example is the South Beach diet which is based on the Stillman Diet from the sixties.

So how do you tell if a fad diet is a truly just a repackaged trend?  First of all if it is based on the way cavemen eat or on the foods eaten in the Bible it is likely to be a bit bogus. That type of diet is based on food deprivation and vegetarianism and both types of weight loss methods have been around for thousands of years. Basically if the diet is based on eating mostly protein and no carbs, carbs and no protein or no fat it is not a healthy diet.

It is also a fad diet if it is based on eating only one food such as a grapefruit only diet or fatty foods only diet.  You just don’t get all of the nutrition that you need eating this way. You need to eat a variety of foods in order to stay healthy.

The South Beach Diet, the Zone Diet and the Atkins diet are high protein low fat diet diets. These types of diets induce ketosis to accelerate weight loss. Ketosis is an abnormal body process that occurs during starvation. Ketosis causes fatigue, constipation, nausea, and vomiting, none of which are part of a healthy lifestyle. The long-term side effects of ketosis are documented to include heart disease, bone loss, and kidney damage.

Crash diets dehydrate you, low calorie diets put your body into starvation so you can't lose one more pound and high protein diets stress your kidneys and clog your arteries.

You do need both protein and fat in the diet as both serve important metabolic and physiological roles in the body. Fad and crash diets, such as the ones described above are not only unhealthy but they are also cause rebound weight gain. Also most diets cause an initial weight loss but the ultimate result is that you gain all of the weight back the minute you go off the plan.  If you don't gain it back within a couple of months, you are likely to gain it all back plus a bit more within a year.

Good Fats and Bad Fats

Good Fats and Bad Fats

It was only about a decade ago that all fat was considered bad for natural weight loss. However nowadays fat is divided into two different categories – good fats and bad fats. The good fats are essential to heart health brain functioning and healing. The bad fats cause all kinds of ailments including diabetes, cancer and heart attacks.

Contemporary research shows that you can make yourself sick by cutting all fats from your diets. The good fats are called unsaturated fats. Unsaturated fats are divided into two categories – monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats. Both types can help lower elevated cholesterol levels. Monounsaturated fats have a dual purpose – helping to lower LDL (bad cholesterol) while raising levels of HDL (good cholesterol) at the same time.

Monounsaturated fats also have a slight edge health wise over the polyunsaturated kind because they are thought to be more stable biochemically and less likely to cause free radicals to let loose in the body.

Still polyunsaturated fats are not worthless. They are a fantastic source of essential omega-3 fatty acids. These types of acids are found mostly in dark leafy greens, nuts cold-water fish, flaxseed oils, vegetable oils and some types of seeds. Our bodies cannot manufacture essential fatty acids. Consuming these fish, seeds and nuts is the only way for our bodies to take advantage of their benefits. Essential fatty acids are thought to lower blood pressure, combat LDL (bad) cholesterol, protect the brain and nervous system and have healing effect on the body in the general.

Most cooking oils consist of unsaturated fats. Two oils are a superior choice for cooking because they contain optimum levels of monounsaturated fats. These two oils are canola oil and olive oil. These are the only two oils you should be cooking with if you want to lose weight.

However it is important to remember that whether fat is classified as good or bad it still counts as a calorie. That does not mean that the oil has fewer calories. Whatever type of oil you are eating it will always be one hundred percent fat.

The worst fats are found in meat and dairy. These are called saturated fats and are found mostly in dairy and meat products. You can tell a saturated fat from an unsaturated or monosaturated fat because it remains solid at room temperature. Eating these types of fats on a regular basis also has the effect of directly raising your LDL (bad cholesterol) as well as the count of your total cholesterol.

Benefits of Yoga

Benefits of Yoga

Yoga through meditation works remarkably to achieve harmony and helps the mind
work in synchronization with the body. How often do we find that we are unable to
perform our activities properly and in a satisfying manner because of the confusions
and conflicts in our mind weigh down heavily upon us?

Stress is the number one suspect affecting all parts of our physical, endocrinal and
emotional system. And with the help of yoga this things can be corrected.

At the physical level, yoga and its cleansing practices have proven to be extremely
effective for various disorders.

Listed below are just some of the benefits of yoga that you can get.

Benefits of Yoga 1: Yoga is known to increase flexibility; yoga has postures that
trigger the different joints of the body. Including those joints that are not acted upon
with regular exercises routines.

Benefits of Yoga 2: Yoga also increases the lubrication of joints, ligament and
tendons. The well-researched yoga positions exercise the different tendons and
ligaments of the body.

It has also been found that the body which may have started doing yoga being a
rigid one may experience a quite remarkable flexibility in the end on those parts of
the body which have not been consciously worked upon.

Benefits of Yoga 3: yoga also massages all organs of the body. Yoga is perhaps the
only exercise that can work on through your internal organs in a thorough manner,
including those that hardly get externally stimulated during our entire lifetime.

Benefits of Yoga 4: Yoga acts in a wholesome manner on the various body parts.
This stimulation and massage of the organs in turn benefits us by keeping away
disease and providing a forewarning at the first possible instance of a likely onset of
disease or disorder.

One of the far-reaching benefits of yoga is the uncanny sense of awareness that it
develops in the practitioner of an impending health disorder or infection.

This in turn enables the person to take pre-emptive corrective action

Benefits of Yoga 5: yoga offers a complete detoxification of the body. It gently
stretches the muscles and joints as we;; as massaging the various organs, yoga
ensures the optimum blood supply to various parts of the body.

This helps in the flushing out of toxins from every nook and cranny of your body as
well as providing nourishment up to the last point. This leads to benefits such as
delayed ageing, energy and a remarkable zest for life.

Benefits of Yoga 6: yoga is also an excellent way to tone your muscles. Muscles
which have been flaccid and weak are stimulated repeatedly to shed excess fats and
flaccidity.

But these enormous physical benefits are just a “side effect” of this powerful
practice. What yoga does is harmonize the mind with the body and these results in
real quantum benefits.

It is now an open secret that the will of the mind has enabled people to achieve
extraordinary physical feats, which proves beyond doubt the mind and body
connection.

In fact yoga = meditation, because both work together in achieving the common
goal of unity of mind, body and spirit which can lead to an experience of eternal bliss
that you can only feel through yoga.

The meditative practices through yoga help in achieving an emotional balance
through detachment.

This in turn creates a remarkable calmness and a positive outlook, which also has
tremendous benefits on the physical health of the body.

Scrapbooking Dos and Don'ts

Scrapbooking Dos and Don'ts

Pretty much everyone in the country has had an experience with scrapbooking. Scrapbooking is a way through which we try to connect with our past through different objects and images. Scrapbooks serve as time capsules, preserving our memories for when we have trouble recalling events.

In making a scrapbook, do:

1) Get creative - scrapbooking is an activity meant for you to release your creativity. You see, you have to let the scrapbook take on your personality. Only through this will you be able to create a scrapbook worthy of being called yours.

How do people release their creativity when scrapbooking? Well, you might want to think about the significance of different objects and how they stir your emotions. Try to express those emotions using these factors of the scrapbook:

A. Arrangement -the arrangement of certain objects in scrapbooking can reveal a much deeper message than the object itself. It actually speaks to the beholder how you feel about that certain object. Does it remind you of something painful? Do you feel joy when you see that object? Try to reflect your feelings on the arrangement of the object.

B. Colors -Different colors convey different emotions. Scrapbooking often requires you to add color to different pages in order to get your message across. Through the colors you use in a particular page, you can get your message about a specific event across to the reader.

C. Texture - in scrapbooking, you get to add texture to your creation. Unlike photo albums where only the pictures count, scrapbooking requires lets you get your message across through different textures. Touch is a very important part of scrapbooking. By adding texture to your pages, you can get your point across much better.

2) Gather resources - when scrapbooking, you need to have all materials you could possibly use. This means you have to prepare beforehand. If you do this, you won't waste time trying to find this or that colored pen.

By gathering resources, you free your mind and time to the actual creation of the scrapbook. Making a great scrapbook requires that your concentration be on the scrapbook itself, not on finding stuff you need.

3) Plan - when you are scrapbooking, always make sure that you have a plan as to which item goes where. You need to plan the overall look of your scrapbook and even the little details that go with it. You see, if you take the time to plan your scrapbook, you will be able to scan your ideas and choose which one is the best for you to go with.

Another advantage with planning ahead is the fact that you will be able to limit your budget and buy the stuff you need to make your scrapbook. By planning ahead, you also make putting the scrapbook together easy because of the fact that you do not really have to spend time changing designs.

4) Consider interpretation - Scrapbooking involves pictures and objects. As you may know, symbols can be interpreted in a million different ways, depending on the beholder's perception. In order to avoid your scrapbook from offending anyone, you could try to give clues as to how a certain page is significant to you.

Scrapbooking quotes are always a good option, considering the fact that they are a compromise between narrating events and using vague pictures.

Scrapbooking don'ts:

1) Copy - copying another scrapbook robs you of the self-satisfaction of having a unique creation. Remember that a scrapbook should reflect your personality. As human beings, we are all unique. This means that you have the potential to create a scrapbook that truly shows your soul.

2) Be vague - remember that a scrapbook is supposed to help you remember. It's not supposed to confuse you even more. In scrapbooking, you should learn how to relay your message without resorting to narrating the significance of each item.

3) Change - leave objects as they are, do not try to make an object more significant than it really is. You also cannot try to change events to suit your perception. You see, trying to change bad events into good, or vice versa defeat the whole purpose of scrapbooking. In order for your scrapbook to be effective in keeping your history, you should be honest to yourself.

Scrapbooking Materials: Know What to Buy

Scrapbooking Materials: Know What to Buy

Originally, it was quite hard to find suppliers and retail stores that would sell you scrapbooking materials. But with enthusiasts settling their own local scrapbooking stores and with online vendors that would sell you everything and anything in between, the hard part becomes the choosing.

Many beginners find it confusing to choose the basic materials once they get into the store. This is of course due to the fact that there simply are too many choices. Add to it the excitement of seeing various colors and designs, samples and layouts and concepts and ideas that will overpower your initial choice of materials.

This is a common mistake. However it must be understood that for beginners, there are only several things that you must buy. In fact, you need not buy them all at once. It is best to check several pieces and test the grounds if scrapbooking lifestyle would work for you.

Planning what must be bought and what must be reserved for other days usually work well when shopping for scrapbooking materials. Many times, the beginner's excitement plus the array of overwhelming choices without enough knowledge on them overshadow a scraper's best judgement in the selection of materials. And later, this would be dealt with regret.

Even veterans fall into this common mistake. And many of us, at one time or another have found ourselves in situations when we were faced with a good sale. We might not need the stuff for the present or might not use them at all yet the urge to buy is harder than our willingness to subdue the impulse.

To help lessen this possibility, it is best to have a definite plan of what materials to buy. In this article, we will tackle about the major scrapbooking material that will prove useful even to the end of your activity.

Album
The most important scrapbooking material and the one that completes the stuff is the album. For album alone, you may already find hundreds of various designs, formats and sizes that would lead you to deciding which would best fit you. We would not discuss the many types of albums here, we'll just provide an overview for some of the basic choices.

Conventional albums appear in 8½×11" or 12"×12" pages. However, smaller albums have become more popular with the integration of newer scrapbooking formats. Other smaller sizes appear in 6"×6" to 8"×8".

Page protectors
The main function that page protectors serve is to help lessen the susceptibility of your photos, memorabilia and the pages, as a whole to damages and tears. And the added value of holding them inn place to avoid stick-on from falling out. There are basically two choices when it comes to protectors; a) clear protectors that let you retain the normal hues of the layout and, b) non-glare protectors that appeal easier to the onlookers.

Paper
Many scrappers turn to papers when it comes to adding designs and choosing the background of their layouts. Patterned papers are among the main choices. For background, however, it is best to use papers with subtle colors so as to help focus the eye's attention on the photos rather than on the background.

Cardstock
A staple in the scrapbooking world, cardstocks are more like cardboards than papers. These are effective in securing the foundations when placing memorabilia, embellishments and photos.

Adhesives
Well these materials simply hold everything together. These are widely available but be careful in choosing one though. Always look for acid-free adhesives and make sure that they are photo-safe. If they are not, they are most likely to cause oxidation of the pictures, the condition when the colors of the paper, photos and other similar stuffs fade.

Paper cutter
This material normally completes scrapbooking as they tend to add the finishing touches. Many scrappers find it hard to keep away from over decoration., this normally is the case when using paper cutters and especially true with cutting pictures. Tip: It is always nice to keep the edges of photos straight. Reserve the use of paper cutters with papers alone.

Scissors
A definite must-have. Scissors greatly help in manipulating further the designs and additions into the scrapbook. They help transform objects such as fibers, ribbons and fabrics into manageable size that will coordinate with the design you have.

Rulers
Precision, that the rule. Obviously, this material will save time when it comes to drawing clean, straight lines.

There are many other scrapbooking materials that you will find useful. Among them are the following: vellum, exacto knife, self-healing cutting mat, white plastic eraser, glue eraser, lettering and fonts, black pens, colored pens or pencils, grease pencil, photo corners and tote.

5 ways to ignite sparks In your relationship

Here are ways to re-ignite the spark, passion and the romance in your relationship:

1) Show them the love
Express your love to them every day, at least once a day. Show your care, don’t just speak it; it must be accompanied by actions. For example, hugging him/her whenever you meet or doing something special for him/her.

2) Create time to be alone together.
Happy couples understand that time together is the glue that keeps their relationship close and vital, so they make their intimate relationship a top priority, and they don't spend their "prime time" watching TV or otherwise being preoccupied with other things. They learn how to grow together rather than apart, by doing projects, activities, chores, goals, parenting and recreation together. A conversation needs to occur between the two of you reevaluating and renegotiating the priorities in your marriage.

3) Create a connection
Intimate connection is about creating an emotional atmosphere where there is reciprocal heartfelt sharing of your inner dreams, your longings, fears, hurts, sensitivities and your vulnerabilities. Although it can also be about money, the kids and work, intimate communication is essentially sharing what you're feeling and what you dream about.

4)
Show affection
Warm touches, close hugs, kisses, holding hands, cuddling and comforting. When touching, the body releases a hormone; Oxycontin which increases trust and a sense of safety, reduces stress and increases sexual arousal.

5) Play together.
Be playful in your interactions. Have a sense of humor in times of stress. Find something playful to do that you both enjoy and make it a priority to keep it in your schedule. Play is critical to our sense of connection to others, and to our joy in life. Try some of the simple things: take a hike together, go to a movie, give each other a massage, go dancing or plan a romantic weekend getaway together.

A Hangover Cure That’s Definitely Not For The Faint-Hearted

Hopefully the holiday hangovers have taught us not to drink too much. If not, maybe we've learned a way to drink and avoid the next morning's effects.

While most hangovers disappear naturally after between eight and twenty-four hours, there are several cures or remedies you can try, these include drinking water to re-hydrate the body. Since too much alcohol causes blood sugar levels to fall, foods that boost blood sugar are highly recommended.

Foods that restore lost potassium and salts as well those containing fructose (which assists in burning the alcohol faster) would be helpful too.

My hangover cure is not for the faint of heart, but it works... when I drank too much I'd do this: Upon waking up, drink two liters of water, "take"  a codeine suppository and then go for a 5 mile run... come home and drink two more liters of water.

If you survived the run, the hangover would be gone for good and you'd feel fine... if not, you'd just collapse and die.

Also, try sipping coconut water as it contains a high amount of electrolytes along with magnesium and potassium and will help your body to replenish minerals that have been lost due to drinking alcohol.

You can also drink freshly squeezed orange juice with a bit of honey.  Vitamin C present in orange juice will help the liver to process the alcohol from your system faster and also wash out the toxins.

Hangovers can happen anytime you drink.  They are a rough thing to deal with, but time remains the ultimate and unarguable cure.  Of course, hangovers are felt mostly in the morning following an alcoholic session the previous night.  They're caused by a variety of chemical and biological reactions to alcohol.

Hangovers are experienced by every party-goer at least once in their lifetime.

The reason this hangover cure works is because of re-hydration, unfortunately this effect doesn't last, because eventually it comes right back to the dehydrating effect of alcohol and a vicious cycle sets in.

The strong desire for a hangover cure has led to many strange experimental remedies.  In the middle ages, for example, hangover sufferers tried to relieve their pain by eating a mixture that included raw eel.

Hangovers cost the United States more than $148 billion annually in worker absenteeism and poor job performance, according to a study by researchers at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in San Francisco, California.

At the end of the day, sleeping off a hangover is still the best way for your body to cope during those painful hours.

Christmas Fun

Games for the Christmas Holiday

When you have a lot people over for Christmas Dinner you'll want to plan some
fun activities they can do while dinner is cooking. While some guests of course
may prefer to watch games on TV while dinner is cooking, there will be some
who will prefer other activities for fun. Here's some fun table games your guest
can play while waiting for dinner.

Board Games

Board games have always been popular through out the years, so be sure to
have some on hand. For the kids you'll want something like chutes and ladders,
candyland, monopoly, yahtzee, game of life, wheel of fortune, or scrabble to
name a few.

Tablecloth Coloring

Another fun activity for the little ones is to get a tablecloth that they can color
on and decorate. This should be one of those disposable types of tablecloths of
course, as you don't want to ruin your good stuff. Have them date it and put
their name on it as this will give you something to look back on and remember
fond memories when they are all grown up.

Outdoor Games

If the weather permits, perhaps some outdoor games would be a good way to
pass the time until dinner is ready. They could play a game of Frisbee, soccer
ball, football, horseshoes, or even a simple little croquet game would be fun!

Sharing stories

For example you could have everyone share their stories about the best or
worst presents they ever got! They would have to describe the gift and
describe why they thought it was the best or worst gift they ever got.

Guess that food dish

Let those who aren't helping prepare the dinner try to guess what dishes are
going to be served by smelling them with their eyes closed. The easy stuff like
ham, turkey, roast etc doesn’t count, as those are easy but how about some of
those side dishes! For instance can they tell squash from sweet potatoes,
Brussels sprouts from cauliflower etc. Let the winner have a taste of the dish of
their choice!

Puppet Show

Puppet show - Put on a puppet show acting out some Christmas Stories can be

A Quick And Easy Guide To Baby Showers!

How wonderful! One of your best friends in the whole wide world has just announced that she’s pregnant. Naturally, you’re delighted, and can’t hold back your tears of joy. It’s hard to imagine that, in just a matter of time, your special friend is going to be a mother (maybe even for the second or third time…or more!).
As you let the amazing news sink in, your friend is envisioning the journey that will usher in a new life into the
world: the gynecologist visits, the morning sickness, the ultrasound testing, the roller coaster of emotions that will eventually culminate in an experience that defies description.

Indeed, despite the frequency of births – tens of thousands a day, all across the world – they remain nothing short of miraculous. It’s not hard to imagine, therefore, that your friend is reflecting on issues that are truly hard to put into words.
Your world, however, is rather more pragmatic. You’re thinking of the baby shower; or rather, you’re thinking that you might not know enough about planning and managing a baby shower. And that has you worried.
Well, worry no more! In your hands (or on your screen) is The Quick and Easy Guide to Baby Showers. Within the following pages, you’ll learn everything that you need to know to throw a perfect baby shower. You’ll learn about the elements of:

  • Planning a Baby Shower from the Ground Up
  • Managing a Baby Shower from Start to End
  • Other Tips, Strategies, and Suggestions

Don’t worry if you've never organized a baby shower before.
And worry even less if, in the past, you've tried to organize a baby shower but bumped into some obstacles along the way. This book is designed to be easy, practical, and fun. In fact, if you aren’t careful, you may just become a baby shower specialist, with people calling you up and asking you for your advice and insights. Now would that be fun?
As you make your way through this book, bear in mind that the suggestions in here are meant to be applied – and they do work – but there’s always an element of uniqueness to every baby shower.

So instead of putting together a baby shower in the way you might put together a recipe – adding ingredients exactly as they’re listed and ending up with a predictably tasty dish – you’re gently advised to approach your baby shower project a little differently. Use the advice in here as a guide for creating a magical day for the mother-to-be, and the caring people who attend the baby shower.
Some of the ideas in here you’ll want to take to the bank; others might not fit with what you’re trying to do, or what can be done (such as some of the baby shower games we talk about). Don’t worry if you apply only some of what you read here.

Use your common sense, and remember: baby showers are supposed to be fun and special events. They aren't meant to be stressful, and the last person who should feel overwhelmed is you.
Now that you have this book, pulling together an excellent and memorable baby shower might be the easiest thing you do all year (or course, you don’t have to tell people it was so
easy…☺).

PART 1: PLANNING THE SHOWER

Who’ll Throw the Shower?
There’s an ongoing debate – that can actually become quite emotional and vocal – that tried to determine whether or not a relative should throw the baby shower. Traditionally, the view has been that a relative should not throw a baby shower, because it can appear that the relative is requesting gifts. Yet traditions change, and there are times when a sibling, or a cousin, or an aunt might be the ideal and somewhat convenient choice.

So what should you do? To answer this, we can respond with the best, and sometimes most unsatisfying answer of them all: it depends.
Sorry, but it really does depend. If you hail from a rather traditional or conventional background, it may be wise to see that a non-relative is in charge of the baby shower. In addition, even if you, personally, are comfortable with a relative throwing the baby shower, some of your guests – who may be less comfortable with it than you – may object (or just whisper about it behind your back).

Use your judgment here. Perhaps the most practical advice is this: if you can conveniently and pleasantly not have a relative run things, then that will likely be the best route to go. However, if that’s just not possible, plausible, or preferred, then don’t feel like you’re someone from outer space because you’re related to the mother-to-be. More and more people are breaking with tradition; especially since they feel that the perception of a relative “asking for gifts” arguably doesn't exist anymore.

Gifts (which we talk about further on in this book) are rather integral to baby showers; it’s quite hard to imagine one without gifts. Since that is the case, whether a relative requests them from those attending the baby shower, or a non-relative requests them, arguably isn't important to those attending. They’re likely focused on what the baby shower should focus on: the mother-to-be, and a wonderful opportunity to share in her joy.

Now, there’s an amusing (at least from our current detached perspective) on this that you should know about. Some people may not want to run the baby shower. It’s assumed that if you’re reading this, that you’re quite happy with the assignment, and you’d like to do some quality – and easy! – research so that everything goes off without a hitch.
Yet if you aren't the one whose holding the baby shower, but perhaps the mother-to-be who is about to hand over this book to a relative or friend who will hold the shower, then we should take a little time-out to talk about something important.

A baby shower is a wonderful event that is filled with laughter, love, and perhaps a few tears (of happiness). Yet putting one together can require an investment of time. Not a lot of time; not compared to, say, planning a wedding or for some people, planning a vacation.
Yet it’s fair to simply note that putting together a baby shower does require some focus, and some time. If you’re about to nominate someone to take on this task, then please bear this in mind; that person should understand that they’ll need to do a little bit of work (but it’s fun work, of course).
And if you've been asked to put together a baby shower – or if it’s just been assumed that you’ll do it – and you’re a little worried about your own lack of time available, then don’t worry. This book will help you immensely. Furthermore, nothing is stopping you from recruiting a deputy or two to help you with the details, such as preparing food, refreshments, and helping with decorations and games.

Man and Woman Dyniamics

The Basics

Synopsis

Without the awareness that we're supposed to be different, men and women are at odds with one another. We commonly get angry or disappointed with the opposite sex, as we have blocked this crucial reality. We expect the opposite sex to be more like ourselves. We want them to “want what we want” and “believe the way we believe”.
We erroneously assume that if our mates love us they'll respond and behave in particular ways—the ways we respond and act when we love somebody. This position sets us up to be frustrated over and over and keeps us from taking the necessary time to communicate lovingly about our differences.

Start Here

Men erroneously expect women to think, communicate, and respond the way men do; women erroneously expect men to feel, communicate, and react the way women do. We have forgotten that men and women are supposed to be dissimilar. As a consequence, our relationships are filled with unneeded friction and conflict.
Understandably, recognizing and respecting these departures dramatically reduces confusion once dealing with the opposite sex.
Throughout this book, I'll discuss in great detail our differences. Every chapter will bring you fresh and essential insights.
Here are some of the major differences that we'll explore: we’ll explore how men’s and women’s values are inherently separate and attempt to understand the 2 biggest errors we make in relating to the opposite sex: men erroneously offer solutions and quash feelings while women provide unsolicited advice and direction. By understanding our difference, it becomes obvious why men and women inadvertently make these errors. By remembering these differences, we may correct our errors and immediately react to one another in more productive ways.
We'll explore how to motivate the opposite sex. Men are prompted when they feel needed while women are prompted when they feel treasured.
We'll talk about the steps for bettering relationships and explore how to defeat our greatest challenges: men have to overcome their resistance to giving love while women have to defeat their resistance to getting it.
You’ll discover how men and women have dissimilar needs when it comes to emotions.
We'll explore how to prevent painful arguments.
You’ll learn ways to communicate with one another during hard times. The different ways men and women hide feelings are talked about along with the importance of sharing feelings.
In every chapter, you'll come across fresh secrets for producing loving and lasting relationships. Every fresh discovery will step-up your power to have satisfying relationships.
